UW comes through late, wins tough one
I was worried about this game coming into it. Northern Iowa is a good team, and UW basically cruised against it's two previous opponenents. Also, NIU plays a lot of tough straight up defense, which would force UW to execute on offense, rather than rely on unconstested shots against a zone or as the result of a broken press. Brockman's early foul trouble was reminicent of past games when Bobby Jones would get a couple ticky tack fouls and end up being ineffective, while UW struggled without his defensive presence. We toughed it out, primarily because of big plays by Hawes, Appleby and Dentmon. This game is encouraging, especially since we managed a win against a team that will likely be in the tournament this year.
